Black Roses, rejoice! On Sunday, August 23, 2020, The Rose released a touching rock ballad for their patiently waiting fans. "Black Rose", named after their fandom, is dedicated to their fans and was released as a little gift for them. The single also commemorates the band's three year anniversary, which was August 3rd.

"Black Rose" falls within their signature rock sound, but more on the ballad side of the rock spectrum. If I were to find similar track from them, it would be somewhere around "ILY" and "with you." The overall feel of the song is slow and solemn, but not sad. It's comforting, reassuring, and somewhat uplifting. After each verse, you feel a little more comforted, a little lighter, and by the end, it's like it's easier to breathe. A song that appears to comfort and relieve seems to be the perfect gift for fans who worried about the group.
As the song is dedicated to the fans, we can assume that the "you" mentioned in the song refers to Black Roses. The entirely English first verse of "Black Rose" asks fans to "Walk under the rain" with them as they deal with the "painful throws again and again." Woosung thanks the fans for "save[ing him] from tears] and for pulling him from "shallow water," most likely talking about the most recent legal issues they've been facing, but also talking about the constant support and love fans have shown. This verse is followed by an entirely instrumental chorus. Dojoon picks up the second verse in Korean and talks about the pain that is shared by The Rose and Black Roses. The verse is followed by the instrumental chorus, but with lyrics that thank Black Roses for staying by their side. There's an instrumental interlude, before the bridge begins, calling the listener to say "it's okay" and to "not be afraid" because "love is the way." The song ends with Woosung singing "from a little further away" and saying "don't worry about us," letting fans know that they are okay.
The Rose's future plans and activity were hazy because of the legal issues between them and their company. This song release eases worries about potential disbandment though, even though guitarist Dojoon enlisted in the military back in July. With the ending words of reassurance, and the overall tone of the song, the future looks a little brighter thanks to this release.
